What advice would you give yourself at 21?

I went to a 21st birthday party last weekend and it got me thinking, what advice would I give my 21 year old self?

I think I’d say:

  • Stop dieting, you’re beautiful enough as you are and it won’t make you any happier.
  • Surround yourself with people that believe in you and make you want to be a better person.
  • Care less about what people think about you (see points above).

Unfortunately, I can’t go back and give myself some wisdom, but what I can do is imagine what 90 year old me say to me now.

I imagine it might be:

  • Find joyful movement, do it every day and stretch a lot.
  • Tell your friends every time you think of them, you don’t know how much they might need you.
  • It’s never too late to do something else. Let your age be an enabler not a barrier.
  • Be even kinder than you feel, you don’t know people’s struggles.

This is a technique that I use a lot when I’m coaching. It encourages a thinker to tap into the wisdom they already have.

What about you?
