How to end a coaching conversation so your team takes action

What is the Coaching Two Step®?
When a team member comes to you for help, start by giving them your full attention. Listen with curiosity, not solutions. Then pick one of two responses:
Ask them to “tell me more”, or
Summarise what you’ve just heard.
That’s it. Then go quiet and listen again. Repeat the step when they finish. It’s a simple rhythm that helps your team think out loud, uncover their own answers, and stops you from jumping in too soon.
